A new local drive-in testing centre will be opened.  It will be running for five days, from Thursday 7 May until Monday 11 May inclusive, and will be based at Oxstalls Tennis Centre in Gloucester.

People with symptoms including key workers, people living with them or over-65s can attend the site, which is run by the Department for Health and Social Care (DHSC), to be tested.

Anyone with symptoms who is in the key groups listed can log onto the website and register via the self-referral portal. If they meet the criteria, they will be issued with a unique code and will be able to select the Gloucester location, as long as appointments are available.

Some household recycling centres will reopen in a limited way: From Monday 11th May the two largest sites in the county at Hempsted in Gloucester and Wingmoor Farm at Stoke Orchard will re-open for essential visits only and all trips will need to be booked in advance. 

The latest government guidance makes it clear that residents should only take waste to a HRC if it cannot be stored safely at home and no alternative disposal options are available.  Hempsted and Wingmoor will open first because their large size and long access roads allow for traffic to be more easily controlled. 

Social distancing measures at 2m will be strictly enforced to help keep visitors and staff safe and crucially anyone with covid-19 symptoms and those in self-isolating households MUST NOT visit.

Update of Local Information and Services, from Age UK

Age UK is kindly keeping us up to date with information on services in each area.  We've updated our file each time we receive it but you can find it here. We will have some posters going up in the flats in Paganhill shortly, asking for volunteers to take responsibility for the waterless mops that the Council would like to trial to support cleaning there.  They have reinstated some cleaning, however, which should make things better.  We will also have some more flyers going around with details of how to contact the person for your area. We now have a clear method of recruiting and enrolling volunteers, and as they are interviewed, they will be given ID badges so that you can easily identify them.  They also have a letter to let the police know they are working for us, and a permit for their car, so that you know your neighbours are not just driving around for no reason!  I wanted to introduce some of our volunteers today so that you might know a little mor...

More victims seeking support as lock-down restrictions ease   GDASS data is showing a steady increase in numbers of referrals and calls from victims as the lock-down restrictions are relaxed. This is  also being reported by other domestic abuse support agencies countrywide. In the same way that many patients who have worrying symptoms relating to cancer, strokes and heart conditions have not sought advice from their GPs during lock-down due to worries around Covid 19, many victims of abuse have also been riding out the lock-down until a safer time to seek help. For many victims of abuse, the abuse may have worsened or intensified during lock-down. However, victims have been unable to reach out for support due to limitations on seeing family and friends, as well as facing increasing barriers to seeing professionals such as GPs.
